Cannot start MS Word

There are situations when Word will not start while other office applications are perfectly fine.
This can be caused by the corruption of the general template which is a file called normal.dot.
To fix it:
1. Click Start and choose Search. Choose All files and folders on the left hand side.
2. Type normal.dot in the first text box.
3. Click More advanced options and make sure the Search hidden files and folders option is checked.
4. Click Search
5. Delete all the files that were found.
