OS: Windows XP. Speeds up the system shutdown by telling the system to end non responsive applications.

Here's something that can help you to shutdown your computer very quick:
Run the atached batch file or open your registry editor (Start/Run Regedit)
1. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
On the right panel look for AutoEndTasks and change the value to 1.
Also look for WaitToKillAppTimeout and change the value to 1000.
2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
On the right panel double click on WaitToKillServiceTimeout and change the value to 2000 .

Effects should be noticed after the next reboot.

Folder Options Missing

Description:

Deletes policy restrictions for Folder Options.
|
|
Symptoms: Folder options is not available in the Windows Explorer Tools menu.
Cause: This problem is caused by a group policy.
Solution: Run the attached batch file or do the following:
Click Start, choose Run and execute regedit.
Navigate to: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
Look for a value called NoFolderOptions on the right panel
Right click on the NoFolderOptions value and choose delete
Navigate to: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
Right click on NoFolderOptions on the right pane and choose Delete

Description:

This batch file removes all policy settings for the current user and recreates the default ones. It also removes machine level folder options and system restore restrictions.

Many spyware programs modify the group policy settings in the registry to prevent the user from modifying an advertising wallpaper.
You can either run the attached batch file or follow the steps below:
Click Start, choose Run and execute regedit.
Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
Delete all the folders under this key related to Wallpaper or Active Desktop or simply delete all the keys.

Problem: You are getting the following error:

To resolve this porblem run the attached batch file or do the following:
Click Start, choose Run and execute regedit.
Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore
On the right panel right click on DisableSR and choose Delete.

Solution
Open the registry editor: click Start, choose Run and execute regedit .

Double click on "Type" on the right hand side and enter "group" as value data.

Cause

is corrupt.
Solution

Symptoms: You are getting the following message when you're trying to use registry editing tools.

Cause: This problem is caused by a group policy.
Solution:
Download HijackThis from the following location: http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip
Run a system scan only.
Locate the following entry:
O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1
Check this entry and click Fix Checked
Logoff and log back in.
