Enable all default Microsoft Services
Resolutions:62
|
Batch file attached:
|
startSVC
|
|
Description:
|
Sets all default automatic Microsoft Services back to their normal startup. Will not enable any 3rd party security software services. Platform XP/2k
|
|
Sometimes system errors, automatic updates or even people wanting to tweak and optimize their computer, will disable system services.
Symptoms:
Device manager is blank.
Network Connections window is blank.
Cannot go on the Internet.
Ipconfig returns: 0.0.0.0.
Ipconfig /renew returns: RpcSs errors, the dependency service failed to start.
The taskbar is white.
Cannot switch users.
No sound.
Solution:
If you used msconfig to "tweak" your system do the following:
Click Start, choose Run and execute: msconfig.
Under the General tab put a dot in normal
Click ok and then Restart.
|
If that did not resolve the problem you can either run the attached batch file or go into the Microsoft Services Console (Start/Run/services.msc) and set each item to automatic one by one.
How to get to the Internet to download the batch file?
Open the services console: click Start, choose Run and execute services.msc .
Look for Plug and play. Double click on it, make sure the startup type is Automatic .If you are getting a message that the Configuration manager is not running properly ignore it.
If the service is disabled change it to automatic, apply the settings and then click Start on the properties window.
Now that we made sure that Plug and play is started we have to do the same for 2 more other services: DHCP Client and DNS Client. If all these services were started successfully you can now go on the Internet
