Slow Startup Process and Lots of Pop-ups
If you have spyware your computer will start very slow. During startup you will get a lot of error messages and commercial pop-ups. Your firewall will warn you that there are a lot of applications that you have never heard of trying to connect to the internet. Let's watch what happened on our lab computer:
The Internet Browser is Hijacked
Internet Explorer is the most used web browser in the world and the most vulnerable to spyware attacks. Spyware will attach itself to the Internet Explorer and will configure it and modify it for its own use. The most visible effect of a spyware infection in Internet Explorer is the presence of many toolbars on top of each other. Also you will get a lot of errors when you open the internet browser because these toolbars are fighting with each other for supremacy and get damaged. You will probably not be able to go to any site that you want, instead you will be shown pages that you've never thought you'll see on your computer and a lot of very devious ads. In our case Internet Explorer crashed and closed by itself in one minute. Let's watch the demo:
Difficult Shut Down
You cannot shut down the computer. You are getting messages that applications are not responding or that applications cannot start because the windows station is shutting down.
