Why do we go in Safe Mode with Networking:

In order to be active, spyware and viruses need to start automatically with Windows. To achieve that they add themselves as startup entries in the system registry. When Windows starts in Safe Mode most of these startup entries are bypassed. This way the spyware will be "asleep" and it won't fight back when we remove it.

Here is how to go in Safe Mode with Networking:

Method 1:

1. Turn the computer off.
2. One second after you press the power button to start the computer back up, start hitting F8. Hit F8 continuously every second.
3. That should get you to an Advanced Option Menu

4. Choose Safe Mode With Networking and hit Enter
5. On the next screen choose your operating system
6. On the login screen choose your user name. Never use the built in Administrator account unless the main user is corrupt. Some fixes are user specific and will not apply in normal mode where the Administrator account is hidden. If you don’t see the main user press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice to bring up the classic logon screen
7. After you login a warning will come up saying that Windows is running in safe mode. Ignore the warning and don't click yes or no. Clicking yes brings up the icons and the desktop but can also launch a specific kind of spyware. You will probably wonder how will we go on the Internet without icons or start menu. Throughout this process we will be using the task manager to launch programs and browse the Internet.

If you are having a lot of troubles starting in safe mode with F8 follow the next process:

Method 2:

1. Click Start/Run and launch msconfig
2. Click on the Boot.Ini tab.
3. Check safeboot.
4. If you want to start in safe mode with networking move the dot from minimal into network
5. Click Ok and Yes to reboot.
6. Don't forget that while in safe mode you need to remove the check if you want to be able to go back in normal mode.
