Now that we removed so much spyware some of the programs that came bundled with it will stop working. For example Kazaa. The application itself is not spyware but it will stop functioning if the spyware applications that came with it are removed.

There are also advertising applications that are completely harmless, for example Weather Bug, but because they became damaged during the system crashes caused by the spyware now they will generate a lot of errors during bootup. Please note that we are not stating that these applications are bad or that you should not use them if a spyware scanner verified they are ok.

We used he Add/Remove applet of the Control Panel which we accessed from the task manager using the appwiz.cpl command.

All the advertising applications popped surveys asking why do we want to remove them, some of them asked if we are completely sure several times, Weather Bug itself has a very touching plea. We also noticed that Ad-Aware didn't get rid of some of the spyware programs completely. That's why we need to do one more step before we go back in normal mode: the Clean Boot.
